Life insurance

If you're gone, your family keeps going

Life insurance replaces your income when it's needed most: to pay debts, keep your family's lifestyle and fund your children's education.

Types of coverage

Three ways to protect your family

Most protection for less

Term

Covers you for a set period, for example while your kids are in school or you're paying a mortgage. The most affordable option for large amounts.

Lifetime

Whole life

Covers you for life. Your beneficiaries will always receive the death benefit.

Protection + savings

Savings (endowment)

Combines protection with savings you receive at the end of the term.

Mexican tax residents

A retirement plan that lowers your taxes

Tax deduction

Personal retirement plan (PPR)

If you file taxes in Mexico, contributions to a personal retirement plan can be deducted up to 10% of your taxable income, capped at 5 annual UMA (about MXN 214,000 in 2026), as long as the money stays until age 65.

No obligation

Free projection

I'll show you how much you could have at retirement and how much you could recover in taxes. Contributions made by December 31 count for that tax year. Details are on the Spanish page.

FAQ

Life insurance questions

Do I need a medical exam?

It depends on your age and the amount. For moderate amounts a questionnaire is often enough; for larger amounts the insurer may request tests.

Can I buy life insurance in Mexico as a foreigner?

Requirements vary by insurer and usually depend on your residency status and where you file taxes. I'll check your options.

What happens if I stop paying?

With term insurance, coverage ends. Whole life and savings plans may have guaranteed values or options to keep part of what you've built.

Can I have more than one life insurance policy?

Yes. Many people combine employer coverage with their own policy, since employer coverage ends when you change jobs.

Do my beneficiaries pay taxes in Mexico?

Generally, the death benefit paid to beneficiaries in Mexico is exempt from income tax. Tax rules in your home country may differ.

Other coverage you may need

More than insurance: a complete strategy to protect your life in Mexico and everything you've built.
